Saturday saw two races in the Grand Prix League for Formula D. We had two new teams, Mark's Team Death with Frankenstein & Stalker and Jake's Team Gumby with Gumby & Argos.
The first race was Sepal Malaysia. Tough course with three injuries being taken, including our first fatality with Gumby himself dying on the first corner of the first turn. Hard luck. We only had four wreck markers on the table, but many of them were double ups from dropped engines and suspensions in the same spot. However, three of those four were on the first turn, making it tough passage for us slow pokes. Frankenstein took an early lead and never looked back making a spectacular race for his first time on the circuit. Zur finished second, with SPR's Chewie taking third. Team Ariete's Marboni came in fourth.
The second race switched to the United States with a three lap event at Watkins Glen, NY. This race was fast, with plenty of 4th gear action in the snaking turns. Again, Frankenstein, quickly becoming a nemesis to all racers and adored by his fans, took an early lead and held off Luigi to finish first. Third went to Team Zealot, who moved into tying position with Team Ariete for the Grand Prix Cup. Chaos' Val brought in 4th while BJ Foyt and Chewie finished. 6 wreak markers littered the track, but all racers finished despite the bump and grind.
